Over the last three years, legislation, government guidance and good practice relating to the protection of children has developed considerably.

In response to these changes, sports coach UK has now updated its popular Good Practice and Child Protection workshop and re-named it Safeguarding and Protecting Children, which reflects the general shift from a narrow focus on ‘child protection’ to the wider aim of safeguarding all children.

The Child Protection in Sport Service has been involved in the review process, helping to ensure that Scottish legislation and practice are reflected in the organisation’s new materials. We will continue to work with sports coach and sportscotland to ensure that the delivery of their materials remains relevant and up-to-date for everyone who runs sports activities in Scotland.
